Copenhagen · Since 2014 · 12 bikes a month
A cargo bike with your name on the top tube.
Hand-brazed steel frames, measured to your body and your street. We build twelve bikes a month in Nørrebro — and we know every single one of them by heart.
Three frames
One of them is yours.
Every Lumen starts from one of three frame platforms — then we change the length, the deck height, the bar position and the gear range to fit the person riding it.
How it works
Four months, start to street.
There is no catalogue and no stock. A Lumen is built after we have met you, measured you, and argued a little about the colour.
The fitting
Come to Nørrebro. We measure you — not just your height, but your reach, your hip angle, and how you stop at a light with a child on board. Two hours, coffee included.
The drawing
Ten days later you get a full geometry drawing and a parts list. Change the colour as many times as you like; we don't cut steel until you're certain.
The braze
Your frame is mitred and brazed by one of three people, each of whom signs the bottom bracket shell. Six weeks of files, flux and patience.
The handover
Ride it out of the workshop, or we crate it and send it anywhere in Europe. Come back at 500 km for the first service — that one is on us, always.
The build
Steel, plywood, and a signature.
We use Reynolds 631 because it is light enough to ride every day and tough enough to be repaired by any frame builder in Europe in twenty years' time. The cargo box is oiled marine plywood with replaceable panels — because panels get scratched, and a scratched bike shouldn't mean a new bike.
Every frame carries the builder's initials, the frame number and the date it was brazed. If it ever comes back to us, we'll know exactly who made it and how.

Owners
Eleven thousand kilometres later.
“We replaced a car with it. Three years, two children, and neither of them has ever once asked to be driven to school.”
“I run a small bakery. The Twin does forty kilos of flour before nine o'clock and it has never once been late.”
“The fitting took two hours and they spent forty minutes of it just watching me get on and off. That's when I knew.”
What it costs
One price. Everything on it.
No options list, no upselling at collection. The bike you test-ride is the bike you pay for.

Questions
Things people ask us.
Twelve to sixteen weeks from the deposit. We build twelve bikes a month and we don't rush the brazing. You'll get photographs at every stage, and you're welcome to come and see it while it's still on the jig.
Yes — and you should. We keep three demo bikes in the workshop: a Long, a Compact and a Twin. Book a slot, bring your children or your dog, and take one for two hours around Nørrebro. There's no charge and no obligation.
About a third of our bikes leave Denmark. We ship crated across Europe for €180, and we'll spend an hour on a video call walking you through the assembly and the first adjustment. The fitting can also be done from measurements your local bike fitter takes for us.
Really custom. Frame length, deck height, handlebar position and gear range are all set from your fitting. A 1.62 m rider and a 1.94 m rider do not get the same bike — they don't even get the same top tube.
You call us and you speak to the person who built it. Frames are warranted for ten years, and we keep spares for every bike we've made since 2014. If you're far away, we'll send the part and talk you through fitting it.
Yes — a Shimano STEPS motor adds €1,150 and about 4 kg. We fit it to roughly one bike in five. Most people find Copenhagen flat enough, but if you're hauling two children up to Valby every morning, you'll want it.
The workshop
Come and stand next to one.
The kettle is usually on and there's always a half-built frame on the jig. Fittings run Tuesday to Saturday — book a slot and we'll keep two hours free.
