# 🚨 This is a SCAM (phishing/smishing) Do **NOT** click the link or pay anything. Here's how to tell: ## Red Flags | 🚩 Red Flag | Why it's suspicious | |---|---| | **Fake URL** | Real DHL domains are `dhl.com` or `dhl.de` — the link `dhl.com-redelivery.eu` is a subdomain trick. The actual domain is `redelivery.eu`, which is not DHL. | | **Tiny fee** | 1.99 EUR is intentionally small so victims think "whatever, I'll just pay it" without thinking twice. | | **Urgency pressure** | "24 hours or returned" is a classic scare tactic to stop you from thinking rationally. | | **Unofficial contact** | DHL doesn't send customs fee collection links via SMS. Customs fees are paid through official postal services (like your local post office) or the courier at delivery. | | **No tracking number that matches** | The "8KX2Q" code is not a valid DHL tracking format. | ## How it works If you click and enter payment info: 1. Scammers steal your **credit/debit card details** 2. They may also steal **personal info** (name, address, phone) 3. Card can be used for fraud or sold on dark web ## What to do - ✅ **Delete the message** - ✅ **Block the sender's number** - ✅ **Report it**: Forward the SMS to **7726** (SPAM, free in many countries) or report to [reportfraud.ftc.gov](https://reportfraud.ftc.gov) (US) / Action Fraud (UK) / your local equivalent - ❌ **Don't click any links** ## How DHL actually works If you have a real customs issue, DHL will: - Usually attempt delivery first and leave a notice - Have you pay through their **official website** (dhl.com) by entering a real tracking number - Or collect on delivery **When in doubt, go directly to dhl.com and enter your tracking number manually — never via a link in a text.**
