Particle-1

TLDR: You don’t need to do anything right now, but you do have a deadline if you want to avoid being moved to a more expensive variable tariff.

• Your current tariff Fixed Saver 24 ends 31 Dec 2026.
• If you do nothing by 28 Nov 2026, you’ll be moved automatically to Standard Variable — currently 34.1p/kWh + 61.2p/day, vs your current 24.6p/kWh. That’s likely a big increase.
• To stay on a fixed tariff, choose Fixed Saver 27 in your online account/app before 28 Nov 2026.
• The T&Cs update on 1 Jan 2027 needs no action, but you may want to skim it.

Action: Diarise 28 Nov 2026 and switch to Fixed Saver 27 if you want to stay fixed. Otherwise, you can do nothing and you’ll be moved to the variable tariff.

Subject: Follow-Up on Security Deposit Return

Hi [Landlord's Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to follow up on the return of my security deposit of $1,400 for the property at [property address]. I moved out on [move-out date], which was seven weeks ago, and I have not yet received the deposit or any communication regarding its return.

I’ve also reached out via text a few times but haven’t heard back, so I wanted to connect via email to ensure we’re on the same page. I understand things can get busy, but I’d appreciate it if you could confirm the status of the deposit and let me know when I can expect to receive it.

Please let me know if you need anything from me in the meantime. I’d appreciate a response by [specific date, e.g., within 10 business days], as I’d like to resolve this matter promptly.

Thank you for your attention to this. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Sam

Almost certainly fake/phishing. Don’t click the link or pay.

Red flags:

• The domain dhl.com-redelivery.eu is not an official DHL domain. It’s designed to look like dhl.com, but the real domain is com-redelivery.eu.
• Urgency: “Pay within 24 hours or returned” is a common scam tactic.
• Tiny customs fee of €1.99 is bait to get card details.
• Generic message with no real tracking number or recipient details.

What to do:

• Don’t open the link.
• Check any expected parcel directly via the official DHL app/website or a tracking number you already have.
• Report/forward the SMS as phishing if your carrier allows it, then delete it.
• If you already entered payment details, contact your bank/card issuer immediately.

So: treat it as a scam unless you independently verify it through DHL’s official channels.

I don’t have a reliable spoiler for Nineteen Quiet Rooms by Ottilie Marsh — I can’t verify the title/author in my knowledge, and I’d rather not invent a twist for your book club. If you tell me the main character’s name or one setup detail, I can help you reconstruct likely discussion points; otherwise, the safest move is to read the last chapter or ask someone who finished it.

Yes — make a leek & parmesan bread frittata/omelette in a skillet. No oven needed.

Important: Check the Parmesan label—traditional Parmesan often uses animal rennet and isn’t vegetarian. If your gf is strict, use a vegetarian hard cheese or skip it.

For 2, about 20 min:

• 4 eggs
• ½ leek, sliced thin and rinsed well
• 2–3 handfuls stale bread, torn into small chunks
• ~30 g Parmesan/vegetarian hard cheese, grated
• 2 tbsp butter
• Salt, pepper, splash of water

Do this:

1. Beat the eggs with a splash of water, salt, pepper, and most of the cheese.
2. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium. Add 1 tbsp butter, toast the bread chunks 3–4 min until golden. Remove.
3. Add 1 tbsp butter and the leek + a pinch of salt. Cook 4–5 min until soft. Add the bread back and toss.
4. Lower the heat. Pour the egg mixture over the leek/bread. Cover and cook 6–8 min until just set. If the top is still wet, cover 1–2 min more. Don’t stir.
5. Rest 1 min, scatter remaining cheese on top, cut in half.

If the bread is rock-hard, let it soak in the egg mixture for 2 min before pouring into the pan. If your skillet is small, keep it thinner or use two pans so it cooks in time.

Hi everyone. I’m [Name], [Sister]’s sibling. I’ll keep this short, because she’s the climber and I’m the one who gets nervous on a step ladder.

For anyone who doesn’t know: they met at a climbing gym. Which is very on-brand. [Sister] has always been someone who picks a route and goes for it. Elliot, wisely, didn’t try to slow her down. He showed up, kept showing up, and became the person she wants beside her.

What I like most is that they make each other better without making a big deal of it. That’s rarer than it sounds.

So: to [Sister] and Elliot. May married life be like a good climb—challenging, worth it, and with someone reliable on the other end of the rope. Cheers.

💰 Cost for Sharing the Steak

The menu lists the steak at €5.50 all'etto (per 100 grams) with a minimum weight of 1.2 kg.

Here is what that will cost you:

• The Steak: 1.2 kg = 1200 grams = 12 units of 100g. 12 x €5.50 = €66.00 (minimum price).
• Cover Charge (Coperto): €3.00 x 2 people = €6.00.
• Service Charge (Servizio): 12% (usually applied to the food/drink total). 12% of €66 = €7.92.

Estimated Total for just the steak and table fees: ~€79.92

Note: If the steak weighs slightly more than 1.2 kg, or if you order drinks or sides, the price will go up. The 12% service charge will also be calculated on any extras.

Tip: A classic Florentine steak is served very rare (often called al sangue). If you prefer it cooked differently, be sure to specify!

I can't produce a real image file, but I can give you a diagram you can sketch on paper in about 2 minutes while you explain it. Here it is.

The one-sentence answer

The Earth spins on a tilted stick, and as it travels around the Sun, one half leans toward the Sun (summer) while the other leans away (winter).

Picture 1: Earth's trip around the Sun

                     🌍 JUNE
                  (summer where we live)
                    / \
                   / \
     🌍 MARCH ---- ☀ SUN ---- 🌍 SEPTEMBER
                   \ /
                    \ /
                     🌍 DECEMBER
                  (winter where we live)

Earth goes around the Sun once a year. The tilt never changes direction — the stick always points the same way, like a spinning top that leans.

Picture 2: The part that actually explains it

   ☀ SUN → → → → → → → → → → → →

      SUMMER (June) WINTER (December)
North half leans North half leans
TOWARD the Sun AWAY from the Sun

          \ /
           \ ← axis / ← axis

        .-''''-. .-''''-.
       / \ / \
      | Earth | | Earth |
       \ / \ /
        '-.....-' '-.....-'
            \ /
             \ /

In June the top of the Earth leans into the sunshine. In December it leans away.

The flashlight test (do this with her)

• Shine a flashlight straight down on the table → small, bright, hot circle.
• Tilt it to the same height → the same light spreads into a big, weak oval.

That's the whole secret. In summer the Sun's light lands on us straight-on and concentrated. In winter it lands at a slant and spreads out. Same Sun, thinner beam.

Two more things that make summer feel like summer:

• Longer days — in June the Sun is up way more hours, so there's more time to warm up.
• Higher Sun — it climbs higher in the sky, so it shines through less atmosphere.

Fun facts to blow her mind

1. It's summer in one half of the world and winter in the other at the same time. When it's July at your house, kids in Australia are in winter coats. That's the best proof that it's about tilt, not distance.
2. Earth is actually closest to the Sun in early January — right in the middle of northern winter. So "closer to the Sun" is not the reason. Kids' books get this wrong all the time.

How to draw it on paper

Circle for the Sun. Draw a diamond of four Earths around it. Then draw one big Earth off to the side with a stick through it, tilted, and a straight line of arrows from the Sun. Label the two ends "summer" and "winter." That's the whole lesson in one page.
